This early full size example of the French Paratrooper ‘Metro’ beret badge is silvered metal. Complete with early style maker’s mark.

In excellent condition with a little slight tarnishing that would easily clean off.

Designed in 1947 by R.Louis, Heraldic officer for the French army, this badge is worn today by metropolitan parachutists of the French army assigned to airborne units.

The wing denotes speed and stealth, the arm strength, the dagger is deadly force. The design enclosed in a ring indicating eternity. These are all elements found in the code of courage embraced worldwide by the truly professional military man.

The design has also become known internationally as the symbol of the mercenary soldier.
