French Card Decks (2) In Original Case, one deck never opened (1960) For Sale

Two Vintage French Card Decks decorated with 18th century characters from Fragonard cartoons designed by FR Gabiraud.
One deck has never been opened, one deck has been opened.
In excellent like new condition including case, 52 cards each deck (24 pictured above)
As it says on the title card accompanying this pack, the double-ended courtiers look as if they have just stepped out of a work by the French painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732-1806). They are all in 18th century costume. Soft colours have been used throughout. Though unnamed, the courtiers are almost certainly based on portraits of real people. All the pips are elongated. Backs are decorated: one with a criss-cross pattern within a gold and grey-blue frame: and the other has a cross pattern within a gold and red-grey frame.
