Description: You are offerding on a pair of antique (Early 19th Century) French Carcel style lamps, Napoleon III, Circa 1870.

The pair is mounted upon bronze bases and with bronze fixtures and stems. Each lamp has a colorful design that, while incorporating flowers and petals, is subtlybased around measurable and mathematically quantifiable geometric shapes; evoking the rationalism that typified the 18th Century epoch known as the Age of Enlightenment.

The excesses of the French Revolution and its aftermath soured many on rationalism and paved the way for the more nationalistic and sentimental romanticism that typified the rest of the 19th Century.

Size: 30.5 inches tall.
