Francois Limoges Hand Painted Landscape Gold Chocolate Cup & Saucer 1919 - 34 BBeautiful empire style porcelain cabinet chocolate cup and saucer. The cup is decorated with a hand painted landscape scene on one side of rocks in front of a river. The scene is framed with gold gilt scrollwork. With a wide band of fancy gold gilt neoclassical scrollwork designs around the cup and bordering the saucer. With double gold gilding around the lip of the cup and edge of the saucer. There are three bands of gilding gilding along the base and gold gilt highlights to the handle. The cup is marked on the bottom Limoges AF France in a green circle. This mark was used by Andre Francois in Limoges France between 1919 and 1934.\"In 1919, André François had a decorating workshop at 113 d\'Aixe, which led until 1922, when he purchased manufactory of brothers Parotaud. In 1927, he took over the factory of Bawo & Dotter located at 23 rue Hyacinthe Faure. At that time, the company employed 200 workers. He sold it in 1930. The new owners were Robert Haviland and Le Tanneur.In 1919, he took over the factory La Seynie in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche (40 km south of Limoges), which in 1934 took over: Lajanthe-Paillere-Descottes. At that time, A. François had several decorating workshop in Limoges: at 12/14 rue du Crucifix, rue Encombe Vineuse, 9 rue de La Fonderie.\"Has some wear to the gilding, and a very tiny gilded over flake to the edge of the lip of the cup, which may possibly have been caused in manufacture.
