This is a framed, preserved Goliath Beetle (Goliathus Orientalis) ethically raised in Zaire (modern day Democratic Republic of the Congo). The framed piece was manufactured in South Dakota, U.S. by Butterfly Designs. It is in very good used condition, only ever having been displayed on a wall or in storage.From the manufacturer: \"All of the butterflies, moths and insects used by Butterfly Designs have been raised on cruelty free farms around the world. The average lifespan of a butterfly is 7 to 10 days. These farms, aviaries and co-ops provide a source of income for native people who would otherwise have to sell trees off of their land or raise cattle, which are both ecologically disastrous. Butterflies and moths are important members of these fragile ecosystems. If their natural habitats are allowed to disappear, then they will vanish forever. Everything possible must be done to preserve them all.\"
