Interesting booklet named “Its Fiberglass” published by theOwens-Corning Fiberglass Company. Stapled wraps 1940. 5” x 7 ¼” and 26 pagesdiscussing how fiberglass is made and what it is used for. Included in this lotis the booklet, two pure glass balls used to make fiberglass, Fiberglassmaterial, and a tag from the J H T Co describing a gray / white Sea Shell GlassDamask, (I believe from the J H Thorp Company). The material is 18 ¾” wide and50” long. (Discolored in a few spots). Mass productionof glass strandswasaccidentally discoveredin 1932 whenGames Slayter, aresearcher atOwens-Illinois, directed a jet of compressed air at a streamof molten glass and produced fibers. A patent for this method ofproducingglass woolwas first applied for in 1933.Owens joinedwith the Corning Company in 1935 and the method was adapted byOwensCorningto produce its patented \"Fiberglas\" (spelled with one\"s\") in 1936. Originally, Fiberglas was a glass wool with fibersentrapping a great deal of gas, making it useful as an insulator, especially athigh temperatures. Unusual lot, sold together only.
