FRIEDRICH DER GROSSE (1896)
Built by Akt. Ges. Vulkan, Stettin, Germany for the North German Lloyd Line. She was a 10,771 GT ship with dimensions of 523'x60'. Twin-screw, 15 knots, quadruple expansion engines, two mass and two funnels. She was shifted between New York and Australian routes. Renamed a) HURON (1917) b) CITY OF HONOLULU (1922). In Oct. 1922 caught fire and after passengers and crew were removed she was sunk by gun fire as a navigation menace. The United States army transport THOMAS brought the passengers to San Francisco.
KAISER WILHELM II (1903)Built by Vulkan Stettin Germany for the North German Lloyd Line. She was a 19,361 GT ship with dimensions of 684'x72'. Twin-screw, 23.5 knots, quadruple expansion engines, three masts and four funnels. renamed (A) AGAMEMNON (B) MONTICELLO = 1927 for the U.S. Government. Scrapped at Baltimore in 1940.
