Film, television and stage actor McHugh agrees to appear on Sosenko\'s radio show \"The Raleigh Room\" in 1945 contract
Contract signed: \"Frank McHugh\" and \"Anna Sosenko\" in black ink. 1 page, 8½x13. Contract agreeing for McHugh to perform at \"The Raleigh Room\" radio program on January 30, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois, for Sosenko Productions, Inc. New York City, New York. January 27, 1945. FRANK McHUGH (1898-1981) began his career in the entertainment field on vaudeville at age ten, appearing in an act with his brother, Matt, and his sister, Kitty. In 1930, five years after he debuted on Broadway in The Fall Guy (1925), McHugh signed with Warner Bros. He made over 90 films for the studio, playing second leads and important supporting roles. His film credits included The Front Page (1931), Stage Struck (1936), Dodge City (1939), Virginia City (1940), Going My Way (1944), Mighty Joe Young (1949), A Lion is in the Streets (1953), The Last Hurrah (1958) and Easy Come, Easy Go (1967). In 1951, three years before he signed this contract, McHugh made the first of a long list of television appearances. In addition to appearing on numerous early TV anthology series, McHugh made guest appearances on several series, including Route 66 and F Troop, and he appeared as Willis Walter on The Bing Crosby Show from 1964-1965. ANNA SOSENKO (1909-2000) produced the hit radio talk show The Raleigh Room, sponsored by Raleigh cigarettes and hosted by the entertainer Hildegarde. The show\'s theme song, \"Darling Je Vous Aime Beaucoup\", was written by Sosenko, who was also Hildegarde\'s manager. (The song was later made famous by Nat King Cole) Sosenko put her vast knowledge of theatre and music to work, conceiving and producing star-studded musical evenings that honored the greats of the theatre. A congenial, outspoken and intense woman, Sosenko probably knew more of the great stars of the theatre of the last 60 years than anyone. Normal mailing folds. Tone. Light surface creases. Corners creased. Small pinpoint stains. Otherwise, fine condition. See more material from these signers:FRANK McHUGH ANNA SOSENKO See more listings in our ACTORS & ACTRESSES (12,502) category.
