FOUR RARE vintage original THE SHADOW PULP MYSTERY magazines 1940, 1941 issues:
$85.00

The Pulp Pioneer of the1930’s and ‘40’s, The One and Only Mysterious Dark Avenger, THE SHADOW, is featured in FOUR vintage pulp issues containing a total of FOUR, count ‘em, FOUR QUALITY novelsby the wordsmith wonder Walter B. Gibson under his pen name of Maxwell Grant. The FOUR RARE original Shadow pulp magazines from Street and Smith Publicationsare….

“Crime at Seven Oaks” from August1, 1940. Check out this beautiful, untrimmed old girl carefully in the enclosedphoto scans and see for yourself just how good of shape she still is in! A fewtiny (barely visible) minor front cover chips on the edge, some VERY minorscuffing on the front of the issue and a dirty fingerprint to the bottom of theback cover. The obvious elephant in the room (on all four pulp magazines) is some idiot amateur in the past who has secured a thin strip of thin cardboard around the spine with metal bradsto secure the thin cardboard to reinforce the full length of the spine from topto bottom. (Drat their amateur eyes!) Otherwise, its supple covers and interiorpages remain unstained and unmarked. One way to look at it is the reinforcingcarboard (and plastic bag covers) have actually PROTECTED all four pulp issues from the usual ravagesthat Father Time all-too-frequently inflicts on vintage pulp issues from this era. With its spine and binding now holding all pages tightly, it’s far from perfect, But it remains in REMARKABLE condition that\'s VERY safely readable for a pulp paper magazine that’s pushing NEAR NINETY YEARS OLD!

“The Wasp” from October 1, 1940. This isone of the HIGHESTDEMAND and MOST FAMOUS Shadow action pulp covers of its era with exciting art and vibrant cover print colorsthat make it a standout!! While theworld prepares for war, The Shadow must face the deadly challenge of The Wasp, “Whose stingis death!” This complete1940 mystery novel features The Shadow blasting out the window through venetianblinds at his latest foe who has yet to learn that “Crime Does Not Pay!” Somelight faded-red moisture staining around the spine edge on both the frontand rear covers. Small frontcover chip on outside lower corner and an \"05\" stamped in a lower corner. (For what dark reason, I know not!) Interior pages ae still supple while morethan safely readable and still HIGHLY collectable. All FOUR classic pulp issues havethe protective fullspinecardboard and brads safely hugging to themagazine tight (But I stillhope that the original jerk who first installed thesecardboard spine covers gets Shingles!).But, all in all, it remainsanother fabulous,still-goodcondition Shadowpulp issue that you shouldscope out thoroughly on the photo scans to appreciate just how good of condition ALL FOUR CLASSICissues are.

“Masterof Flame” from May 15, 1941. Once the \'Flame Master\' also arises as a ‘Master of Evil,’he brazenly hurls a mighty challenge at The Shadow! This is a beautiful exampleof the rich, bright print colors that graced The Shadow magazinecovers so consistently in the 1930’s and ‘40’s.Other than a small outer edge front cover chip, this issue remains inpretty darn good shape, (with more than enough suppleness and safe readabilityto go around,) with no major blemishes. And don’t forget that all FOUR of theseRARE Shadow pulp magazines also feature the terrific supplemental fiction, codes, cyphers, quizzes, previews, stunning black and white interior artwork and specialty departments that made The Shadow pulps thegreatest of all pulp mystery magazines for decades. (Yes, I fear this issue also bears the thin cardboard and metal brad spinereinforcement that must have been completed in years past by a stupid communist!)

“The Thunder King” from June 15, 1941. This is another expertlypainted and color printed masterwork with nearly microscopic front color scuffsand almost imperceptible short creases. The one single tiny upper outsidecorner front cover bump can be closely checked out on the scanned photo, justas the other three pulps on this sale can be carefully inspected as well. And yes, this otherwise terrific, collectible vintage Shadow Magazineis blessed with the same thin cardboard and brad reinforcement of the spinethat I am forced to truly suspect (No Joke!) has possibly provided a legitimatebasic layer of protection to keep these swell pulps tightly bound and looking good over the decades. (ButI still secretly suspect that the cardboard concept was originally ill-conceived enough to havebeen dreamed up by an insane Adolph Hitler as he sat around the bunker!)

Each Street and Smith publisher’sShadow pulp magazine volume is still jam-packed with exciting, crackerjackaction starring the Dark Eagle, who was also called Ying Ko, namely thegreatest detective mystery figure of the pulp era, The Shadow! These issueshave some minimal to NO light foxing on the page edges, but the pages are stillcomplete and solid, no rips, no doodles, nothing missing. (And safe to read and enjoy.) Shipped bagged and back boarded topreserve these RARE vintage pulp magazines. (And be sure to shore up yourconfidence by checking other sales to see the sky-high prices somesellers are asking for their identical copies.

I am starting all FOUR classic Shadow pulp magazines out on a SEVEN DAY sale with , at an opening offer of only $75.00!!! (That\'s less than I\'ve seen single pulp copies from that era sell for on !)
