#4025 - This large blue/purple 95% transparent octahedron is well cleaved and has shiny sides. The specimen has 5 nice tips and one flat tip. One tip is flat and is the original surface of the fluorite crystal. This octahedron will look pale blue(most of the time), but will look pale purple under different light sources(especially incandescent). The main feature for this octahedron is the blue color, which is uncommon in this mining area. You will have fun watching it change colors.

Fluoriteoctahedrons are cleaved from larger chunks of fluorite. Many of thefluorite octahedrons that I sell have been cleaved by me, using a small chiselto tap the fluoritechunk into the octahedral shape. This fluoritecomes from Hardin County, Cave-in-Rock, Illinois.

Theoctahedron weighs .95 ounces (27 grams) and is about 1.42 inches tipto tip. The last 2 photos are led and incandescent.

NOTE: It\'s difficult to capture the true color of fluorite. It will change color depending upon the light source.
