A Year\'s Botany- autographed and gifted by the legendary Crimean War Nurse and historic pioneer of modern Nursing, FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE. An excellent opportunity to own one of the very few books from the personal library of the fabled \"Lady With The Lamp\".
Inscribed,\"Mr. Burton / Lea School / with / F. Nightingale\'s / best wishes / Dec 1888.\" At the front of the book, Burton has inscribed his motto, \'Victor Qui Laborat\' (Victory to he who toils\").
Burton was the Schoolmaster at Lea and Holloway, the former Nightingale family estate. Nightingale retained a strong connection with the property, later joining the school board. An avid reader herself,Nightingale was deeply interested in the subjects of history, medicine and botany, hence the subject matter of some of her books gifted to Burton by her, both before and after her death.
