FANTASTIC OLD MEXICAN FOLK ART MASK

Purchased in Taos, NM in the early 1980”s.

Painted black, red and blue with white accents around the eyes, eyebrows and cheeks. Thirteen long ribbons attached at nose and jawlines remain, symbolizing beard and mustache. There are remnants of several ribbons that have aged away.

Hand carved in lightweight wood. The dimensions are :Mask face 7.5” tall excluding ribbons, 16.5” including ribbons. Width is 5.5”. Nose extends depth to 8.5”.

Whimsically beautiful. A must have for your folk art collection.
