Description: Stunning! Gemquality Dioptase crystals are perched upon snow white micro-quartz crystalswith frostings of Duftite and minortransparent Calcite. She’sa real beauty with Dioptase and Duftite coverage on the face and Quartz andDuftite coverage on the back side.The Dioptase crystals arecrystal clear and perfectly terminated, as shown in the photos. The Dioptasecrystals are 3-4 mm in size and there are 22 of them. The bottom has been sawn sothe specimen displays very aesthetically and there are awesome views undermagnification.This is a wonderfuladdition to your Tsumeb Mine Collection.

Tsumeb mine is so uniquethat its very creation is open to debate. Prevalent research has led to thetheory that the Tsumeb Mine is the volcanic shaft of a super volcano thaterupted 2 billion years ago. The eruption lasted for approx. 100,00 years. 1.5 BYAthe dome collapsed filling the throat with sand. There are two aquifers thattransect the shaft. The volcanic aquifers are laden with Gallium, sulfates,phosphates and the like creating the stage for crystal formation. Tsumeb is oneof the most prolific and highly acclaimed mines in the world producing veryhigh-quality mineral specimens that have been coveted in collections since itstarting operating in 1907. Tsumeb Mine closed in 1996. All mineral specimensfrom Tsumeb are currently in private collections or museums. These stones are2,000,000,000 years in the making!
