British Parliament 1925 Vintage Lithograph

1903 First Lady of the White House Photogravure

Elizabeth Jane Monroe (1768-1830)

Elizabeth Jane Monroe was the First Lady of the United States from 1817 to 1825, as the wife of James Monroe, President of the United States. Due to the fragile condition of Elizabeth\'s health, many of the duties of official White House hostess were assumed by her eldest daughter, Eliza Monroe Hay.

__________

with Titled Overleaf & BONUS Print with short biographical paragraph framed against an Ornate Shadow Frame**

**Note: The background in the biographical print is, by design, in a shadow effect. There is nothing wrong with the page; that was just the style used by the publisher. Actually it has some nice features... First Lady name..small Presidential oval portrait at bottom...just are hard to see easily. Apparently, the publisher was more interested in you seeing the words.

Prepared by The Bureau of National Literature and Art, 1903Of all photoengraving methods there is none which produces such a rich and satisfying result as photogravure.
A photogravure is an intaglio printmaking process where a copper plate is coated with a light-sensitive gelatin tissue which had been exposed to a film positive, and then etched, resulting in a high quality intaglio print that can reproduce the detail and continuous tones of a painting or photograph. You should avoid touching the face of the print, as the ink is somewhat powdered. Full Print Size: Approximately 7.5\" X 9\" Blank on Reverse - perfect for framing

Condition:Excellent - VeryGood - Good - Fair - Poor (but of historical interest)

Tiny spot in left margin; Typical but light handling & age toning (mostly edges and slightly exaggerated in picture)- Very Good Condition

(Some of the patchiness in the picture is because the print is not lying perfecting flat..but there is a little age toning.)

I will send a combined invoice reflecting your savings. The Nature of Prints & Engravings: It was not until the 20th century that prints were commonly produced for the print itself. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as illustrations to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques: relief printing (woodcut & wood engraving), intaglio printing (steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and planographic printing (lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.). While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty.
