circa 1887 / 1888 - President Cleveland vs Benjamin Harrison - Antique Card"Electoral Vote, 1884" State-by-State Count / "Vote, 1888" ... is still left BLANK because count not in yet. NOTE: Grover Cleveland is the only president in U.S. history to serve non-consecutive presidential terms.I will be listing many more "Political" and "President" related cards between now and the next U.S. Election.Cleveland was elected in 1884 as a BACHELOR President. While in office, he married the beautiful young Frances,who captured the nation's attention and affection as a sort of American Princess Diana of the 19th Century.
NOTE, re: 1888 Election - Cleveland won a plurality of the popular vote,but Harrison won the election with a majority in the Electoral College,marking the only time in which an incumbent president of either party lost a re-election offerdespite winning the popular vote as of 2023.
