Edward Hartwig (1909 - 2003) son of Ludwik, owner of a photographic studio from Łódź, who moved to Moscow, and then in 1918 to Lublin. There, in the 1920s, the first photographic works of Edward were made. They were mainly landscapes inspired by the achievements of Jan Bułhak. In 1929, the artist's first individual exhibition took place. In the years 1935-1937 he continued his studies at the Graphic Institute in Vienna in the studio of prof. Rudolf Kopitz.In 1947 he was a co-founder of the Association of Polish Art Photographers, and with time its honorary member. He was also a member of the international photographic art organization FIAP, by which he was awarded the highest title: Honoraire Excellence FIAP. In the 1940s, he participated in avant-garde exhibitions: "Modern Polish Photography", Warsaw 1948 and "I Exhibition of Modern Art", Krakow 1948/49. He has had several dozen individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad, incl. in Paris, Brussels, Athens, Amsterdam, Turin, Milan, Padua, London, Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Pardubice, Budapest, Houston and Chicago.
