We offer this original engraved and embossed Reward of Merit dated 1863 in pencil on backside. From the Civil War era, as Washington is shown on horseback with a solid field of stars on his flag, and his pedestal is titled \"Union\". The reward is given to Nellie Gallup by her teacher M.E. Gallup (no place given). The card measures 4-3/4 x 3-1/8 inches. The gilt border is embossed. The image is printed in blue. Some handling wear and soiling. Corners slightly blunted. Good condition.
