Original 1959 press photo of 1959 painting of Orville and Wilbur Wright commissioned by the state of Ohio that hangs in the Ohio statehouse. Painting by Ohio artist, Dwight Mutchler of Athens, OH. Artist Mutchler was selected from a group of 52 Ohio artists. The painting weights 800 lbs. w/ the frame.

On the righthand side of the painting you can see the Wright\'s Dayton home and bicycle shop depicted.

Caption on front of press photo: \"COLUMBUS, OHIO, DEC. 12-- WRIGHT BROTHERS COMMEMORATED-- This painting of Orville and Wilbur Wright, and the plane in which they made aviation history 56 years ago, will be placed on permanent display in the Ohio Statehouse next Thursday, Dec. 17. It was on Dec. 17, 1903, that the Wright brothers made the first successful flight in a heavier-than-air, mechanically propelled airplane, near Kitty Hawk, N.C. The painting was done by Dwight Mutchler of Athens, Ohio, who received 15,000 for the work from the state. (AP WIREPHOTO) 1959.\"
