Early 19th Century French Empire Bronze Bawdy Lady Paperweight:

Early 19th century French Empire bawdy woman paperweight. She is clearly pointing at something by design (we will leave that up to interpretation). This type of novelty item would be a precursor to the naughty/bawdy bronze women figures produced in Germany and the United States during the Art Nouveau period. She was sold as a Dutch girl, but the costume is clearly from the French Empire period and she is wearing French wooden clogs (probably a depiction of a Breton provincial girl). The piece measures 3 3/8" in length. Please read condition report and see photos.

 Buttercup’s Antiques is a green shipper, meaning we will reuse shipping materials whenever possible without compromising the stated condition of the item. If you would prefer new shipping materials be used, this may impact shipping price, but we will be happy to accommodate your request. Just make sure to email us within the two-day handling period after your purchase is processed.

 Since many of our items are unique and fragile, we will only accept returns if the item is damaged during the shipping process and we are notified within 24 hours of item delivery.

 Items of over $200 in value will be insured. Artwork of over $500 in value, in addition to being insured, will be shipped using professional packing and shipping services to assure item safety. The price of insurance and shipping is reflected in either the purchase or shipping costs.
