Largest Documented Workforce50-100 (1934-1935) Historic NarrativeThe Graham Manufacturing Company was established in Orange, Connecticut, in 1893, with $20,000 in capital. The company relocated to Derby on July 29, 1898, and subsequently occupied a mill erected on speculation by the Ousatonic Water Company ca. 1895. For much of its history the Graham Manufacturing Company was managed by Eugene H. White, president and treasurer; and Howard D. White, secretary, who oversaw the production of an extensive line of specialty hardware, primarily locksmith supplies such as locks, lock plates, and key blanks. A company catalog from 1944 advertises a diverse array of key blanks, lock strikers, key checks, padlocks, trunk locks, suitcase locks, letter box locks, parts for locks, gem bolts, knob spindles, and key machines. The company employed between 50 and 100 workers during the late 1920s and early 1930s, however, by 1936 this had dropped to between 25 and 49 hands.
