By looking at the elongated shape and the three solder hinge system that was used we can ascertain that this box is most likely from the earliest part of the 18th Century, between 1710 and 1720. (Refer to research and references from style="margin-top:12pt; margin-bottom:12pt;">This box is double stacked with a soldered band that wraps around the rounded corner elongated rectangle box shape. There are very clear and concise tool markings on the bottom of the box as well as on the inside features and compartments. The Tulip Motif engraving has a wonderful "FOLK" or "ARTISIAN" tone and quality, giving an exceptional custom feel.

It is made of copper and was elegantly hand crafted for a Dutchman's household or a ship captains table.

This is a very rare find and will make an excellent addition to any Tobacciana collection.

This is a OOAK Dutch Tobacco Box. Its condition, age, design, uniqueness of style, and its "Table Box" construction should qualify it as a Museum Decorative Arts Piece and a reference point to this wonderful historical world of Dutch Tobacco Boxes.

CONDITION:
Wear and patina are appropriate to the age of this item; there is NO damage or dents, this antique tobacco box has NO visible repairs or restoration. All hinge joints and moving pieces are in their original working order.

The front lid rim has a segment where the solder joint has come loose due to age and wear. It is not damaged and the lid is still intact and connected to the rim. This does not affect the function, condition or aesthetic of the box as a whole but does require acknowledgement for purposes of precaution when opening and closing the top lid by the front ridge.
