Hard to find model 1840 MEDICAL STAF officers sword, and this is one of the absolutely rarest ,made in Klingenthal ,VALLEY OF BLADES, BY COULAUX & CIE,WHICH IS MAKER MARKED ON THE BLADE. This is even rarer it has the original hanger clips, you never find, with the scabbard. The blade has the U.S. and ornate floral design down both sides of the blade, flags , e. pluribus unit.Ect. The silver M.S. for medical services stand out nicely in solid silver. Just what a doctor would hang on his wall after service in the CIVIL WAR ,so few in service at this time. Fit s nicely in the scabbard, even has the original red felt buffer in the throat.
