Elegant Old Akan Memorial Head African Shrine Object

Upfor sale is this beautiful original Akan Memorial Head.

AFine old terracotta head which was used traditionally as a memorial portrait(nsodie) of an Akan ruler from southern Ghana or southeastern Côte d'Ivoire. Itis an idealized representation whose serene expression, well-balanced features,and striated neck suggest the qualities that great rulers are expected toembody.

Thismemorial clay head measures 12 inches tall. About 7 inches at thewidest point.

CONDITION:Good vintage condition commensurate with it’s age. Chips along base, losses toback of head. Please see additional pictures.
