Wow! This is a beautiful E Bringhurst of Wilmington Delaware pontil medicine bottle from the 1850s. This was once filled with a concoction crafted by Edward Bringhurst Jr. (1835 - 1912). I believe that He and his family lived on Shipley street in Wilmington Delaware, and he was a pharmacist starting in the 1850s. Random interesting fact, his son, Edward Bringhurst III, was supposedly the first cross dresser in Delaware . Photos surfaced not long ago of him in a dress in the 1920s which is fascinating for that era of history. Anywho, the history that this bottle could tell is astonishing. It was recovered in a privy in Wilmington Delaware in the 1990s, and it is a testament to the history of Delaware glass.

The bottle has beautiful grey glass and bold embossing, but unfortunately it has a base chip and it is missing parts of the flared lip. Regardless, this is a beautiful bottle that needs to be admired in your collection. Thank you for enjoying bottles : )
