Description: From and created in Israel in the early 60\'s or late 50\'s. By the famed artist of Safed, Israel David Gilboa.
This is a great, vintage, toy scroll, of the Passover Seder ceremony with watercolor illustrations which match the text being recited and some instructions in English interspersed. It describes the scroll as being published and printed by the following companies, in Hebrew:ציורים וכתב יד דוד גלבוע צפת קרית הציירים. הוצאת מועד בע\'\'מ, תל-אביב. נדפס בדפוס אופסט מ. ענבי פוטוליטו עדשה בע\'\'מWhich means in English: Paintings and handwriting by David Gilboa, Painter\'s Quarter, Safed. Moed Publishing Ltd., Tel Aviv. Printed via offset printing by M. Anavi, Photolitho Adasha LtdCondition: Part of bottom cap is chipped on one side as shown. Scroll unrolls and can be rolled back with ease, but with care when reaching a seam. Slightrips at scroll edges in some places. All watercolors are bright and clear. Nice condition over all.
About The Artist:David Gilboa was born in Romania in 1910. He studied at The Academy of Fine Art, Bucharest, Romania, between 1927-29. He immigrated to Israel in 1933 and settled in Safed. He is one of the founders of the reknowned Artist\'s Quarter there.
He was a landscape painter until he discovered the human element, which he had previously considered of secondary importance. He then concentrated on painting people. Besides painting the landscapes and people of Israel he also produced and illustrated a number of children\'s books, among them \"Treasure Island\" by Robert Louis Stevenson.He died in Tel-Aviv in 1976.
