An incredibly unique and rare set of signed personal letters from Dame Margot Fonteyn and William R. Daley-Cleveland, OH 1967.
The cover letter is addressed to Gregory S. Devine (president of the B.&O. and C.&O. railroads from 1964-1971) from and signed by William R. Daley (principal owner of the Cleveland Indians baseball team from 1956-1966). Attached to the cover letter is a handwritten letter from Dame Margot Fonteyn (appointed the “prima ballerina assoluta” of the Royal Ballet by Queen Elizabeth II). The letter expresses Dame Margot’s appreciation of the wonderful service she and her greatest dance partner Rudolf Nureyev received during their stay at the Green Briar Suite while on their Royal Ballet Tour. The suite was owned by Gregory Devine and was/is still located on the top floor of the Terminal Tower, in Tower City in Cleveland.
Appealing to so many different collectors- train enthusiasts, baseball fans, ballet lovers and even Cleveland/Ohio history buffs. The letter is in good condition with strong, clear, visible writing.
Cover letter measures 10.5” x 7.25” Dame Margot’s letter measures 8” x 5.75”.
