FIGHTING ON THE RIDGES – JULY 1, 1863

On the afternoon of July 1, 1863, Confederate units attackedOak Ridge near the right flank ofthe UnionFirst Corps. A Union brigade under Brig. Gen. Henry Baxteroccupied this position, about a mile north of the Seminary. As the Confederates approached the stone wall protecting Baxter\'s men, a volley inflictedcasualties on thousands of North Carolinians under Brig. Gen. Alfred Iverson. Thispainting by renowned artist Dale Gallon is one of 10 original works that appearin the Gettysburg Seminary Ridge Museum.

These postcards were sold in sets of 10 at the Seminary Ridge Museumat Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, but my set (all of which I will be listing) containedonly 9. Each post card measures 4” x 6”, which I believe is a little largerthan a standard sized postcard. To my knowledge, these postcards are onlysold in the gift shop and are not available online.
