INTRODUCTION The Douglas Aircraft Company presents the TA-4E, a new two-seat advanced tactical trainer combining features of the U.S. Navy's first-line A-4E Skyhawk light attack bomber

and an advanced instrument training airplane. The TA-4E is equipped to handle the full syllabus for instrument and advanced combat training. Both cockpits have full flight controls as well as flight and navigation instru- ments. Therefore, chase planes used for safety with single-seat training airplanes are

not required.

The TA-4E design is derived from a long heritage of over 1700 service-proven Skyhawks.

The Skyhawk has been in continous production through four major model modernizations. Skyhawks have accumulated over 1,700,000 flight hours. Their simplicity and ruggedness

result in low maintenance and a high degree of availability. The TA-4E Skyhawk, with its superior flying qualities, is fully qualified for the role of a low-cost two-seat combat jet. Outstanding capabilities of the aircraft include: wide ordnance mix and delivery modes, short field operations, carrier-based operations, and

excellent low altitude maneuverability. The TA-4E is being produced under U.S. Navy Contract NOW(a) 65-0184-f with the first

flight scheduled in July 1965.
