Single salt or pepper shaker hand made by Washington artist Debbie Fecher Gramstad, as part of her "Insane Asylum" series featuring all kinds of bizarre characters. This particular guy has a colorful cap under his strait jacket and is strapped in by real colored cords around the sculpture itself. He measures 8" tall and about 1 1/2" in diameter across his base. As a shaker, he has 4 little holes on the back of his head and a little cork stopper in his base, along with the artist's signature and date, "88." I would say this piece is in excellent condition; there is no damage to the ceramic but there are a few brown stains or scuffs which look original. The lower half of the figure has an unglazed bisque finish and it looks like the marks are baked in. This figure is very cool, like all of Gramstad's work!
