DAVE DRAVECKY!

DAVE DRAVECKYwas a National League All-Star in 1983. He played 1982-87 with the San Diego Padres and 1987-1989 for the San Francisco Giants. Overall he went 64-57 with a 3.13 ERA and 558 strikeouts. Dravecky was a clubhouse leader and a fan favorite, a deeply religious man. Dave Dravecky underwent cancer surgery in 1988 on his pitching arm and he made a much publicized return to the mound less than 1 1/2 years later. He suffered a gruesome break of his arm while pitching in July of 1989 and he collapsed on the mound. While healing the severe break, he reinjured himself and a doctor discovered a mass has returned, ending his MLB career. After two more years of surgeries and attempted rehab, Dravecky had his left shoulder and arm amputated to keep the cancer from spreading to other parts of his body. Dravecky became a motivational speaker after his career and surgeries and a successful author of an autobiography and religious themed motivational literature.

This card is a glossy, standard sized card (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") and it will be delivered securely in a hard plastic top loader. The photo shows him in a full color action shot throwing a pitch and wearing a Padres brown and white uniform.The card is a 1987 Fleer Baseball Card #412, signed clearly on the front in black ink, just his signature, no other writing.
