DADT Don\'t Ask Don\'t Tell Struck Down published in the Sunday, December 19 2010 The Charlotte Observer (Charlotte, NC USA) newspaper. Headline: Don\'t ask\' struck down in the Senate - Historic vote to repeal military\'s 17-year ban on gays serving openly now heads to Obama. Significant LGBTQ legislation history! \"Don\'t ask, don\'t tell\" (DADT) was the official United States policy on military service by gay men, bisexuals, and lesbians, instituted by the Clinton Administration. The policy was issued under Department of Defense Directive 1304.26 on December 21, 1993, and was in effect from February 28, 1994, until September 20, 2011. Beginning in the early 2000s, several legal challenges to DADT were filed, and legislation to repeal DADT was enacted in December 2010, specifying that the policy would remain in place until the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff certified that repeal would not harm military readiness, followed by a 60-day waiting period. Small imperfections are not necessarily uncommon given the age of the piece. Overall, this piece is in Very Good condition and will absolutely be an impressive display or archive item for any collector, enthusiast, or historian. Great for framing. A unique gift. Most printed items are often from my personal collection. I have been an enthusiast for over 25 years. Unfortunately, I just cannot keep them all.
