1. VINTAGE PORCELAIN FIGURINE KARL ENS VOKSTEDT PAIR BIRDS GREY WAGTAIL VINTAGE PORCELAIN FIGURINE
   MAGNIFICENT PAIR OF GREY WAGTAIL BIRDS
   ON A WHITE BASE
   
   Early 1900's Karl Ens porcelain figure of a Grey Wagtail group in mint condition.  ~ 9 3/4" long and 5 3/4" tall. 
   There are no chips, flea bites, crazing or repairs.
   
   This figure has the Green Karl Ens windmill mark, indicating that it was made in the 1920's or 1930's at Volkstedt, Thuringia Germany
   
   The grey wagtail (Motacilla cinerea) is a member of the wagtail family, Motacillidae, measuring around 18–19 cm overall length. The species looks somewhat similar to the yellow wagtail but has the yellow on its underside restricted to the throat and vent. Breeding males have a black throat. The species is widely distributed, with several populations breeding in Eurosiberia and migrating to tropical regions in Asia and Africa. The species is always associated with running water when breeding, although they may use man-made structures near streams for the nest. Outside the breeding season, they may also be seen around lakes, coasts and other watery habitats. Like other wagtails, they frequently wag their tail and fly low with undulations and they have a sharp call that is often given in flight.

   Old Karl Ens porcelain figure of a beautiful bird in mint condition.  4" long at the base and 5 1/2" tall.  There are no chips, flea bites, crazing or repairs.
   
   This figure has the Green Karl Ens windmill mark and incised number 7273, Thuringia Germany.
   
   Porzellanfabrik Karl Ens. Characteristic of the finely modeled bird sculptures produced by the Vokstedt Thuringia factory prior to WWII. This piece is Ens' Tropical Finch. Shape no 7273 which is also known as the Tanager Parrot.
   
   Beautifully executed in bright white porcelain with crisp mold and nice detail to the bird's head detail, and plumage
