Medal awarded to individuals who fought against the Nazis and Communists.

On the reverse, commemorating the famous One-Eyed (and eventually blind) General of the Hussite Armies during the Hussite wars in early 1400s...with the phrase "Zizkovou Silou" or 'With Zizka's Strength'

During Bohemia's National Revival, individuals such as Jan Hus and Zizka were idealized, because they were quite extraordinary men. For example, the Czecho-Slovak Legions often pained these famous men on their train wagons and gained strength from their examples.

ONE - EYED HUSSITE GENERAL ( ~1370 - d. 1424 )
Jan Zizka became a leader of the Hussite armies during the early Protestant Hussite Wars and was undefeated in battle. He perfected the use of 'armored' wooden wagons, cannonand tactics that surround it - enabling him and his armies to defeat every Catholic Crusade that was launched against the Kingdom of Bohemia. Zizka's break-out when surrounded at Kutna Hora, was history's first recorded mobile artillery maneuver. The only general in Bohemian history with similar success was Prokop the Great, who learned from and fought with Zizka. Prokop took over after Zizka's death and met with great success on the battlefield.
Medal measures about 90 mm tall with Ribbon...the medal is 40 mm in diameter. Includes the pin on the ribbon as shown.
