Cricket MemorabiliaRothmans Test Cricket Almanac – 1961This book produced by Rothmans of Pall Mall (cigarette manufacturer) and contains records of the (then current) 178 Cricket Test Matches played between England and Australia. The Forward is by Harry Surtees AlthamCBEDSOMC(30 November 1888 – 11 March 1965) an Englishcricketerwho became an important figure in the game as an administrator, historian and coach. HisWisdenobituary described him as "among the best known personalities in the world of cricket". He died of a heart attack just after he had given an address to a cricket society. Altham served on theMarylebone Cricket Club(MCC) Committee from 1941 until his death in 1965. He was Treasurer from 1949 until 1963 and President in 1959. He was a member of the Hampshire Committee for over forty years and the President of the club from 1946 until his death. He was also Chairman of the EnglishTestselectors in 1954.The Introduction was written by Sydney Smith who was born in 1880. He joined the NSW Public Service in 1902 and rose to be chairman of the Local Lands Board under the Western Lands Act. However he is best known as a cricket administrator and was secretary of the Australian Board of Control for International Cricket from 1911 to 1926. He managed the successful Australian tours of South Africa and England in 1921, and of England in 1926. He was also president of the NSW Cricket Association from 1935 to 1966. As a cricketer he played grade cricket for Petersham and Gordon. He died in 1972.
