Here is a nice and relatively large, double terminated crystal of Corundum, in elongated shape from Gallatin County, in Montana. The crystal also shows excellent triangular termination feautures, as typical for Corundum. The is some level of luster on this crystal. The color of the crystal is more grey than blue, even some brown tints, so no sapphire perse, but I think very impressive and hard to find Corundum crystal from Montana in this good of a formation. Multiple Outside of the gem Sapphire fields in the state of Montana, well formed corundum crystals have been found in matrix rock, around Bozeman Mt, in Gallatin County. Most, if not all of those deposits are now off limits to the public, but older collections locally will still turn them up sometimes.This crystal is 2 oz in weight, or 57 grams.
