The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is an American long-range, subsonic, jet powered strategic bomber. It has been operated by the United States Air Force (USAF) since the 1950's. It had its first flight on 15 April 1952, and was introduced into service in February of 1955. The B-52 has gone through multiple versions since it's inception. Superior performance at high subsonic speeds and relatively low operating costs have kept them in service despite the advent of later, more advanced, strategic bombers. From 1952 to 1962, there have been 744 models manufactured. There are currently 88 models still in existence: 58 operated by active USAF squadrons, 18 by USAF Reserve squadrons and 12 in long term storage.
This Boeing B-52C with serial number 54-2672, was part of the 7th Bomb Wing and 28th Bomb Wing out of Carswell Air Force Base located at Fort Worth, Texas. It was delivered to the United States Air Force in June of 1956. In comparison to numerous other B-52's, 54-2672 had a relatively short service life, retiring from the USAF inventory in 1971. After retirement, it was used as a test airframe before being ultimately scrapped (how very sad). There were 35 of Boeing's B-52C's manufactured.
This model of the Corgi Aviation Archive Boeing B-52C Stratofortress is a beautiful 1:144 scale diecast reproduction of this famous USAF bomber aircraft. It is a highly detailed model with accurate markings, detailed engines and underwing fuel tanks, detailed landing gear with rolling tires, and can be shown in flight or on the ground configuration on the included dispplay stand. The box has minor shelf wear from being moved around from long term storage.The model is approximately 13.25" long with a 15.50" wingspan. All sales are final. Shipping to the USA only.
PLEASE NOTE: You will notice in the photograph of the right side nose closeup that the "O" in the U.S. Air Force has a flaw. This was on the last one of this model I sold. This model does NOT have that flaw. I simply used my previous listing photographs. This model is new and never been displayed.
PLEASE NOTE: This particular version of the Corgi line of B-52's is very rare and is being offered at a very good price. This is a highly detailed reproduction of the Boeing B-52C. Many of us serving in Vietnam found this aircraft to be a familiar sight throughout the war. This is a historic model and will be an excellent addition to any Vietnam aircraft collection, any military aircraft collection, or any aviation enthusiast's collection. This model is new, but the box has minor shelf wear from sitting on my shelf for so long and being moved around. This is the only one available.
