Coors China Ade-O-Matic Yellow Reamer - Deco Style
COMPANY MAKER: The H. F. Coors China Company, Inc.

ITEM: Ade-O-Matic Reamer / Juicer

CIRCA: 1930s

BACKSTAMP: At the top edge of the bottom \"COORSITE CALIFORNIA U.S.A\" In the center of the bottom \"ADE-O-MATIC PAT. 1762855 JUNE 10 1930 OTHER PATS. PEND.\"

MEASUREMENT: 8 3/4\" H. - 9 1/2\" W.

CONDITION: We are pleased to offer for sale an outstanding hard to find Deco Ade-O-Matic reamer / juicer. This two piece reamer is one of the largest home use, reamers found from the 1930s. It is very modernistic (almost Deco) in style. The reamer has a mechanism that will spin and turn inside your orange as you press down. This motion aids in removing the juice. Both of the porcelain pieces are in Undamaged Condition without chips, cracks, or mold damage. The cone has been double checked and is free of damage. The metal parts which hold the reamer cone in place and allow it to work properly are in great shape, but the cap that fits on the top of the spindle shaft does have a couple of cracks (check the photo). This does not affect the use or appearance of the reamer. These reamers are very hard to find. The yellow glaze is very even. There is some minor shelf wear on the bottom rim of the jug where it sits.

H. F. Coors China Company, IncThe forerunner of the Coors Porcelain Company was founded by a former Roseville Pottery executive John J. Herold. He founded the Herold China and Pottery Company in Golden, Colorado in 1910. The operation was partially financed by Adolf Coors of Coors brewing fame. By 1914, this pottery was acquired by the Adolf Coors Company. In 1915, Mr. Coors requested sons Herman and Adolf, Jr. to operate the pottery. The new pottery was called the Coors Porcelain Company. Most of the early production involved porcelain products for industrial use. During World War I, the Coors Porcelain Company supplied the government with large quantities of chemical porcelain. In February, 1922, Herman Coors left the Coors Porcelain Company. He went to Los Angeles to research the possibility of developing a clay deposit he had purchased. He began his new life in California by working in the research laboratory of the Alberhill Coal and Clay Company. In 1925, he founded the H.F. Coors China Company, Inc., in Inglewood, California. Production included dinnerware for restaurants and institutional use under the trademarks Coorsite, Alox China and Chefsware. When Herman retired in 1946, the company management was assumed by his son, Robert Coors. In 1978, Robert Coors retired and the company was sold to Standex International Corporation, In 2003 Catalina China, Inc. of Tucson, Arizona purchased the assets of H. F Coors. The factory was moved from California to Tucson and is still operating as a division of Catalina China, Inc.
