. Collected by a diver in 95 feet of water, Negros Island, the Philippines, 2022. A cool variant of the omaria cone, I have a feeling that this baby got its name because of its tendency to try to sting you after you had collected it. That\'s right, I know it might come as a shock to some of you, but some shells simply do not like to be picked up, and that goes especially fortented cones. In Hawaii it was well known that the most common time a collector got stung was after they got back to shore. They stuck their hand into their goodie bag to get a better look at what they had found, and...

. That\'s right. Carelessly sticking your hand into your goodie bag then was like sticking your hand into a bee nest.

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that\'s why so many of the photos of shells on show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
