Concretion Fossil - Leaf/Feather, Mazon Creek:

This belonged to my father. He collected rocks, geodes, fossils, and arrowheads all his life. Along the Mississippi and other rivers and creeks in Missouri as a youth. And later in several areas in Northern Illinois. The Mazon Creek area was his favorite. I know nothing of fossils however he referred to this as a sandstone concretion that he found, split and coated with something to preserve and prevent deterioration. It appears to me to have been a leaf of some sort, but when I look closely I can see indications of veining as a feather might have. It appears to be in fine condition.
