For sale is a double candle wall sconce featuring an eagle grasping laurels over a 3-star shield. The eagle is richly detailed including individual feathers. It holds a branch of laurels which extend outward to form the base of the arm. The simple capitals have an approximate inner diameter of 5/8\". A simple triangle wire hanger in on the reverse. Originally, the three stars denoted the branches of the Department of Defense: Army, Navy & Air Force. Makes a good decoration for the upcoming United States Semiquincentennial, the nation\'s 250th anniversary, on July 4, 2026.
This piece is in very good condition with no damage and gentle wear. There are some minor edge dings along the lower left (photograph 11) and a few small scratches on capitals (photograph 12). Marked on the reverse as pewter and for Colonial Casting Co., Meredith, NH, USA. Approximate Measurements7 1/2\" wide6 7/8\" high1 3/4\" deep
