Recipient of the DistinguishedService Cross (2nd highest military decoration), 2 Silver Stars (3rd highest military decoration), DSM, Legion of Merit, 13 Distinguished FlyingCrosses, Bronze Star, 5 Air Medals. Colonel Gabreski is the fourth highestscoring U.S. Ace Pilot of WWII only Richard Bong, Thomas McGuire and DavidMcCampbell downed more planes than Gabby during WWII. Colonel Gabreski servedin the U.S. Air Force from 1940-1967. During the Korean War Colonel Gabreskiflew the F-80 Shooting Stars and the F-86 Sabres Jet.
