In this listing we are offering a vintage Guerlain Company, Paris, France empty perfume box only. No bottle & no perfume is being offered in this listing (just the box).A beautiful original box which would have originally held either a bottle of Fol Arome or a bottle of L\'Heure BIeue (translates to The Bluish Hour) perfume. The Bluish Hour perfume scent, which is felt by many to be one of the great perfumes of history, was created by Jacques Guerlain in 1912 & was launched by the Guerlain company in the same year.
The wooden box is covered with paper which successfully gives the visual impression of a rich dark brown wood with inlaid scenic designs. The Guerlain company used this design of box, which is known as the Marley Horse design, for a number of years. We are estimating that the box we are offering dates circa 1920\'s-1940\'s. But, we are not precisely certain. Someone familiar with the products made by the Guerlain company will probably be able to assign a more specific date to the box.The box has a hinged opening at the top end which is in excellent working order. The inside of the box is lined in a fine material which appears to be silk. The interior lining has some light soiling from age. The outside of the box is in excellent original condition & shows only very slight insignificant wear. The inside bottom of the rim of the lid has a chip missing off of the wood which measures 1 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inches wide. This is only visible when the box is opened & turned upside down & viewed in that upside down position.The box measures 5 7/16 inches long by 3 7/16 inches wide by 2 1/4 inches tall & the weight is 4 ounces. This is a somewhat better condition example of the Marley Horse box than is usually found. Most often this type of Guerlain box is found with more wear than the one we are offering. A visually pleasing box from a fresh find in an upscale area of northern Virginia.Please examine the photos closely & purchase based on your own judgement as to condition & value.
