Circa 1870s cabinet card photograph of Lion Brewery workers taking a break, Over the Rhine, Cincinnati, Ohio. A large and weathered poster on the wall behind the workers in their leather aprons reads \"CINCINNATI - LION BEER\". Lion Beer was made by the Lion Brewery which opened in 1866 and closed in 1882. The brewery was open for only 16 years. The location is Miami Canal between Wade and Liberty Streets which places the photo at the southwest corner of Central Parkway and Liberty where the Windisch-Muhlhauser Brewing Company stands today. The men\'s split leg leather aprons match images of 19th century workers of brewery machinery. The final photo compares the 20th century Windisch-Muhlhauser brewery to this historic 19th century image.
