Our History:
My late father was Marvin Winkoff, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Checker Motor Sales Corporation in Long Island City, New York from 1970 - 1976. He was in charge of taxicab fleets sales nationwide. Prior to becoming GM he was a Checker Dealer under the name Marvin Motors.
Dad left Checker Motors at the end of 1976 and we moved to South Florida in early 1977 to open our dealership, Checker Family Cars (aka: Checker Southeast Corp). We customized the Checkers and sold them as passenger cars from 1977 - 1983. Checker stopped making them in 1982 and we sold our last ones in early 1983. We took on Saab in 1982.
