Chalcocite Ball, Rarity, oddoty, Nacimiento Mine, Cuba, NM. These chalcocite balls are a rarity. In my many visits to the Nacimiento Mine I have only found 4 or 5. Not sure how they form -- possibly starting with a bit of organic matter associated with the triassic wood replaced by chaclocite which was a main ore of the mine. A bit of the usual malachite suffused sandstone matrix attached. 1 1/4 inches diameter.
