This is a rare Disney Scrooge McDuck limited edition watch of 091/500 made by Fantasma with signed COA by Carl Barks. It has never been used or tested with the protection on front and back. Will need a new battery. The watch has been in climate controlled storage for years. COA, original box and packaging has minor wear and tear from time. Please contact me with any questions.
The watch was made for the 50th anniversary of Scrooge McDuck and only available at the 1997 Disneyana Convention. It comes with the gold collecting case in the shape of a brick of gold.
The back of the watch is engraved with the signature of Carl Barks and the text: “Scrooge McDuck’s 50 Anniversary Watch 1957-1997. An Exclusive Creation for the 1997 Disneyana Convention by The Disney Catalog 091/500.”
The COA reads: “Born in 1901 in Merrill, Oregon, Carl Barks has spent most of his life drawing, illustrating, painting, and telling stories about ducks. Disney Ducks have always been the favorites. In 1935, Carl joined Walt Disney Productions as a storyboard artist, gag man, and writer. He worked on more than 30 Donald Duck shorts, as well as Fantasia and Bambi, before ultimately dedicating himself in 1942 to the art form which has made him famous: comic book stories and illustration. For many years, Carl was the preeminent Disney comic book artist and he is considered the father of the miserly Uncle Scrooge.
I am pleased to have designed for the Disney Catalog, this original Scrooge McDuck watch to commemorate the 50th birthday of Uncle Scrooge (1947-1997). It is hereby certified that the enclosed timepiece is one of a numbered Limited Edition of 500.” Personally signed by Carl Barks.
