Up for sale is this RareORIGINAL[NOT a repro/reprint]Albumen Extra Tall Stereoview with NO photographer info(please enlighten me if you know any more about it).Stereoview has hand written title on the back that appears to be a mispelling of San Antonio, Tex. HOWEVER I do NOT know if the stereoview SHOWS San Antonio or another Texas city. Theimage is entirely filled with early buildings and what appears to be a church steeple in the background, so obviously taken in a larger (for the time) Texas city. I would assume southern or central Texas is more likely than northern TX.The stereoview shows buildings with thatched roofs, side walls made from branches / wood, and stone chimneys. You can see a \"woven wood fence\" made from branches, etc in the foreground. Also a couple buildings are made from lumber. I get the impression that the single story buildings in foreground are on a hill and the buildings in background are downhill and probably multi-story.This would make an OUTSTANDING addition to ANY stereoview, early Texas, early Western US, Early Urban Architecture, or historical collection.
Front is unmarked. Back says in cursive writing \"Sant Ansonio, Tex\" or \"Sans Ansonio, Tex\".I assume it is a misspellingfor \"San Antonio, Tex\".Interestingly the paper used to repair the crease on back is advertising Blue Label Brand Manila Twine and mentions selling 500 boxcars of twine in 1898!!! It is an oversized (extra tall) \"Cabinet Stereoview\" that is(approximately 4\" height x 7\" length).
NOTE:I will be listing another Oversize \"Cabinet Stereoview\" on with no photographer info and hand written title on back showing \"Mexican Dwelling\'s\". The buildings in that stereoview are the same basic design as the ones shown in this listing, ie with Thatched Roofs, branches / wood for walls, stone chimneys, and a woven branch fence. I don\'t know if it is from southern Texas or from Mexico.
