1868 UN ESCUDO SPAIN - MADRID MINTISABELLA IIMOST LIKELY A COUNTERFEIT!I bought this as a silver un escudo but it\'s odd yellow color prompted me to weigh it and discover that it likely is a fake/counterfeit. It is supposed to weigh 13 grams yet only weighs 10.5 grams. It does have the proper 29mm diameter and 2mm thickness. The edge lettering is very crude. This coin would only be worth $40 to $60 if it was silver so that leads me to believe that it was counterfeited in 1868 instead of in modern times as it wouldn\'t make sense to go to the effort today. They did make a gold ten escudo in 1868 and brass tokens of the same coin, yet this looks nothing like a ten escudo so the whole thing is a mystery. I\'ve spent about 2 hours researching this, which isn\'t cost effective on an item that I will sell at a loss, but here we are. Please note that I think this is a counterfeit or fake and that it likely is 100% brass with zero silver content.
