I do not know what military or police organization young Willie Kerr represents. At first, his suit just looks like a regular dark suit. But the hat he has on his lap looks like a uniform cap, and there is some sort of braid on his collar. He has a confident air for one so young.In ink on reverse is:\"M\' Willie Kerr\"

Photographed byAlex. Ayton,Kennedy Place, Londonderry.\" Alexander Ayton was born in Scotland, and came to Ireland in the early 1860s. He moved to the studio at Kennedy Place in 1864. Altogether, he worked as a photographer in Derry for nearly 40 years. He did lots of portrait work, but also urban views of Derry and Donegal. One of his sons later carried on the business.Card measures about 4 x 2.5 inches. Portrait vignette measures about 2.5 x 1.75 inches.
Yellowing to image. Fading to image, especially at bottom. Soiling to image and card. Some scratching to image, and a scrape at lower edge.My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn\'t able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it\'s a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases, so please check out my other listings.
