Up for sale is a Civil War era CDV of a young married woman who could be wearing mourning clothes. Her dress is black with white cuffs and collar. She wears a wedding ring, earrings and a bracelet. On her head is a hairnet with a ribbon headband. Next to her on the table is a book Byron\'s Complete Works. A first edition on is listed today for about $250. The photographer was E.A. Kusel was a man who was active in the Oroville, California community for decades. The woman pictured is very likely his wife Bertha nee Heilbronner married circa 1856. This very historic black and white card is in nice condition for its age.
